Castell Cilgerran is a historic castle located in the town of Cilgerran, Pembrokeshire, Wales. Situated on a limestone outcrop overlooking the Teifi Gorge, the castle is a significant heritage site that offers visitors a glimpse into the region's rich history.

Built in the 13th century by William Marshal, the castle served as a defensive stronghold during the conflicts between the Welsh and English. Over the years, it underwent several renovations and alterations under different owners, including the Mortimers and the de Cardigans. The castle was eventually abandoned in the 15th century and fell into disrepair.

Today, Castell Cilgerran is managed by Cadw, the Welsh government's historic environment service, and is open to the public. Visitors can explore the well-preserved ruins, which include a massive stone keep, curtain walls, and a gatehouse. The castle's strategic location provides breathtaking views of the Teifi Valley, making it a popular spot for photography enthusiasts.

The site also features an informative visitor center, where visitors can learn about the castle's history and significance through interactive displays and exhibits. Guided tours are available, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of the castle's architectural features and the historical events that took place within its walls.

Castell Cilgerran is not only a fascinating heritage site but also a picturesque attraction surrounded by beautiful woodland. Its tranquil setting and intriguing history make it a must-visit destination for history buffs, nature lovers, and anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the captivating stories of Wales' past.

Kilgerran railway station (site), Pembrokeshire Opened in 1886 by the Whitland and Taf Vale Railway, later part of the Great Western Railway, on the line from Whitland to Cardigan, this station closed to passengers in 1962 and completely in 1963.
View north east at the site. A steep path led up to the station building, now replaced by a small housing estate. The abutment which carried the former railway bridge left to right over the road is however still clearly visible, on the left of the image. Note the station was always "Kilgerran" whereas the village is "Cilgerran".
