Old milestone This is one of 615 milestones set up for the West Riding County Council in 1893/94. Over half of them are still by the roadside. The milestones around Keighley are painted fairly regularly. The metal attachments are 100cm tall although only about 80cm of this one is above ground level now. Fortunately all the legends can still be read. The backing stones are about 120cm high and 15 or 16cm deep. This casting was made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge and that is cast onto the bevel but not painted.
