Old milestone This West Riding CC milestone on the A6023, Doncaster Road, in Conisbrough is by the gate to No. 10. It was quite rusty so in 2019 I chipped off all the old paint including inside the letters and numbers such as B & ¼. After various coats of paint the legends could be picked out in black. Unfortunately the plate is not securely fastened to the backing stone which has some erosion but is held by its position in the pavement tarmac. It is Grade II listed 1192827.

Old milestone When the old paint was stripped from the WRCC milestone outside No. 10 Doncaster Road in Conisbrough opposite the railway station, a mistake in the casting showed up. On BRANCH the N had been cast as an H! Careful painting corrected this 130 year old mistake. This also shows the insecure way the attachment is fixed to the backing stone. Grade II listed 1192827.
