Little Italy, Corris The creation and lifelong passion of the late Mark Bourne, the strange collection of replicas in concrete of European buildings and structures is a hugely arresting sight. See <span class="nowrap"><a title="http://www.letterfromaberystwyth.co.uk/tag/carreg-llwyd/" rel="nofollow ugc noopener" href="http://www.letterfromaberystwyth.co.uk/tag/carreg-llwyd/">Link</a><img style="margin-left:2px;" alt="External link" title="External link - shift click to open in new window" src="https://s1.geograph.org.uk/img/external.png" width="10" height="10"/></span> for more of the story.

Although the garden itself is now closed to visitors, you can see plenty from here on the adjacent public footpath.

Little Italy, Corris The last of the late Mark Bourne's amazing creations, as you ascend the public footpath into the forestry above. Though the majority of his fantasy collection of miniature buildings - a poor man's Portmeirion, perhaps - was Italian in theme and subject, there are plenty of other influences at work: a fine collection of bricks from works throughout NE Wales especially, and here a 3D map of the geology of the Cadair Idris area and a memorial to poet Wilfred Owen. See <span class="nowrap"><a title="http://www.letterfromaberystwyth.co.uk/tag/carreg-llwyd/" rel="nofollow ugc noopener" href="http://www.letterfromaberystwyth.co.uk/tag/carreg-llwyd/">Link</a><img style="margin-left:2px;" alt="External link" title="External link - shift click to open in new window" src="https://s1.geograph.org.uk/img/external.png" width="10" height="10"/></span> for more background to his extraordinary project.
