Leaner Stack is a small uninhabited rock stack located in the Shetland Islands, an archipelago in Scotland. Situated in the North Atlantic Ocean, Leaner Stack is a part of the larger Shetland Islands group, which is known for its rugged beauty and remote landscapes.

Measuring approximately 60 feet in height, Leaner Stack is characterized by its striking vertical cliffs and narrow pinnacle shape. The stack is composed of sandstone and shaped by years of erosion caused by wind and sea. Its isolated location and unique geological features make it a popular destination for adventurous climbers and photographers seeking dramatic views.

Access to Leaner Stack is challenging due to its remote location and lack of regular transportation services. Visitors typically reach the Shetland Islands by ferry or plane from mainland Scotland, and then rely on small boats or kayaks to reach the stack. Due to its unprotected nature and strong currents, only experienced climbers and experienced sea kayakers are advised to approach Leaner Stack.

The surrounding area of Leaner Stack offers a diverse range of wildlife, including various seabird species such as puffins, guillemots, and fulmars. It is also home to seals and various marine life. Nature enthusiasts can enjoy observing the wildlife from a distance, taking care not to disturb their habitat.

With its dramatic cliffs, unique geological formations, and abundant wildlife, Leaner Stack is a remarkable natural landmark and a testament to the raw beauty of the Shetland Islands.
