Oldbridge Plantation is a picturesque woodland located in Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland. Spread across a vast area, the plantation is known for its serene beauty and rich biodiversity. The woodland is primarily composed of a mixture of broadleaf trees, including oak, beech, and birch, which create a lush and vibrant canopy overhead.

The plantation is crisscrossed by numerous walking trails, allowing visitors to explore the beauty of the woodland at their own pace. These well-maintained paths wind through the forest, providing glimpses of its diverse flora and fauna. Wildflowers such as bluebells and primroses can be spotted carpeting the forest floor during the spring months, while ferns and mosses thrive in the shaded areas.

Bird enthusiasts will find Oldbridge Plantation to be a haven, as it is home to a wide variety of species. The songs of the chiffchaff and blackcap fill the air during the summer, while woodpeckers and nuthatches can be seen hopping from tree to tree. Red squirrels are a common sight, scurrying along the branches and occasionally stopping to gather nuts or acorns.

The plantation is also of historical significance, with remnants of an old bridge that once spanned the nearby river still visible. This bridge, which has since been replaced, served as a vital link between neighboring villages in times gone by.

Oldbridge Plantation offers a peaceful retreat for nature lovers and a chance to immerse oneself in the tranquility of the Scottish countryside. Whether it's for a leisurely walk, birdwatching, or simply enjoying the beauty of the woodland, this charming plantation is a must-visit destination.

Corsock & Kirkpatrick Durham graveyard There seems to be a local custom of recording the place of death on the old headstones. This one marks the burial place of the Graham family, all of whom died at Sunny Brae. The stone records the sad story of a 6-month-old child’s death in 1892, with her parents reaching their eighties in 1932 and 1946. No other children are recorded on the stone.
