Terraced housing on north-east side of Brunswick Terrace, Stafford

The houses together with an apartment block and town houses were built in 2007 on land formerly occupied by the Midlands Electricity Board (MEB). The houses were designed to match the style of the houses on the opposite of the road which were built in the period 1855 to 1861. Brunswick Terrace is a cul-de-sac with residential parking on the right and paid parking on the left of the image.

Numbers 127 to 131 Newport Road. The terrace of five houses nearest the photographer were built in 1837-50 for railway workers. They are built in the Tudor style with Tudor-headed entrances. The houses together with the walls and gatepiers are Grade II listed

The White House, Newport Road, Stafford

The White House was originally the offices of Stafford Rural District Council which was abolished in 1974 by the Local Government Act 1972. The Act restructured local government in England and Wales.. The communities covered by the Rural District Council were incorporated into the Stafford Borough Council. The building is under threat from housing development.

Highfield Manor was built in 1880 and demolished in 1967. It was built for David Hollin, a boot and shoe manufacturer. Stafford was an important centre of boot and shoe manufacture until the late 20th century. The image shows the Lodge house and gateposts. A small housing estate has been built on the site.
