Loch Breachacha is a picturesque water body located in Argyllshire, Scotland. Nestled amidst the stunning natural landscape, this coastal inlet is a combination of a sea, estuary, and creek. The name "Loch Breachacha" is derived from the Gaelic words for "speckled loch," which aptly describes the numerous small islands and rocky outcrops scattered throughout its waters.

Stretching over an area of approximately 4 square kilometers, Loch Breachacha offers visitors a captivating blend of rugged coastline, sandy beaches, and tranquil waters. The loch is surrounded by rolling hills and lush greenery, providing a serene and idyllic setting for outdoor enthusiasts.

The estuary section of Loch Breachacha is characterized by its wide and shallow waters, which are influenced by the tides of the nearby Atlantic Ocean. This creates a unique ecosystem, attracting a diverse range of wildlife. Birdwatchers can spot various species of seabirds, while seals and otters can often be seen swimming or sunbathing along the shoreline.

The loch is a popular destination for water-based activities such as kayaking, fishing, and sailing. Its calm waters and gentle tides make it an ideal spot for beginners and experienced water sports enthusiasts alike. The surrounding area also offers opportunities for hiking, camping, and picnicking, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the natural beauty of Loch Breachacha and its surroundings.

Overall, Loch Breachacha is a hidden gem in Argyllshire, offering a peaceful and scenic retreat for those seeking a connection with nature and a chance to experience the beauty of Scotland's west coast.

Track over the machair This is the track from the parking place to Feall Bay. Vehicles obviously use it to save what is a very pleasant walk, although a sign at the car park asks them not to.

There's a corncrake in there somewhere! Coll's machair in full bloom, and the haunting rasp of the corncrake calling. It's in there somewhere but this elusive bird cannot be seen in the long vegetation. The island of Bac Mor (Dutchman's Cap) in the right distance.
