Urie Lingey is a small island located in the Shetland archipelago, off the north coast of Scotland. With a total area of just over 1 square kilometer, it is one of the smaller islands in the Shetland group. Urie Lingey is situated approximately 2 kilometers east of the larger and more inhabited island of Fetlar.

The island is characterized by its rugged and rocky coastline, with cliffs rising up to 30 meters in some areas. It has a diverse bird population, including species such as fulmars, puffins, and guillemots, making it a popular spot for birdwatching enthusiasts. The surrounding waters are also home to various marine life, including seals and otters.

Urie Lingey has no permanent residents, and there are no buildings or infrastructure on the island. It is primarily used for grazing sheep and is managed by the Shetland Islands Council. Access to the island is limited, with no regular boat service available. However, during the summer months, visitors can arrange private boat trips or join organized tours to explore the island and its wildlife.

The remote and untouched nature of Urie Lingey appeals to those seeking tranquility and a chance to immerse themselves in the unspoiled Shetland landscape. Its isolation also makes it a haven for wildlife, providing a sanctuary for various bird species and other animals.
