This gold painted postbox in Quay Street Penzance was the first one painted gold by Royal Mail and marks the Olympics success of local girl Helen Glover SW4729 : Golden postbox in Quay Street Penzance. It has rapidly become a tourist attraction and at the time of my visit there was a queue of people waiting to have their photo taken beside it.
Penzance from Pengwel
The Newlyn streetname Pengwel raised my expectation (pen is Cornish for head or top and gwel means view) and I was not disappointed. From this vantage point in Newlyn much of Penzance can be seen. Obvious landmarks are St. Mary's church and the Jubilee Pool.
