Compensation Reservoir, located in Yorkshire, is a man-made freshwater lake that serves various purposes within the region. Spanning approximately 100 acres, the reservoir was constructed in the mid-19th century to provide a stable water source for the industrial activities in the area. It is primarily used for water storage and supply, ensuring a constant flow to nearby towns and industries.

The reservoir is nestled amidst a picturesque landscape, surrounded by rolling hills and lush greenery. Its calm, tranquil waters attract a diverse range of wildlife, making it a popular spot for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers. The reservoir's shores are home to an array of plant species, including reeds and rushes, creating a vibrant freshwater marsh habitat.

For recreational purposes, Compensation Reservoir offers fishing opportunities, with anglers often being drawn to its well-stocked waters. Common fish species found here include perch, pike, and roach, providing a challenge for both experienced and novice fishermen. The reservoir is also a popular destination for sailing and watersports, with boating facilities available for visitors.

The reservoir is managed by the local water authority, ensuring the water quality is maintained and the surrounding environment is protected. Its strategic location within Yorkshire's industrial heartland not only fulfills the water supply requirements of the region but also adds to the natural beauty and biodiversity of the area.

Willow Cottage, Saltaire Road, Eldwick Actually a large detached house rather than a cottage. It appeared on a property website with an estimated value of £369,000. The name of the road is also misleading, because although you can get to Saltaire this way, it's only on foot. It is part of the Welcome Way.
