Quoich Pool is a small freshwater body located in the Caithness region of Scotland. It is situated in a remote and picturesque area, surrounded by rolling hills and heather-covered moorland. This natural feature serves as a lake, pool, pond, and freshwater marsh, making it a diverse and unique ecosystem.

The pool itself is approximately 1.5 hectares in size and is fed by the Quoich Burn, a small stream originating from nearby hills. The water in Quoich Pool is clear and cold, maintaining a consistently low temperature throughout the year. It is home to a variety of aquatic plants, including water lilies and reeds, which provide shelter and food for many species of fish, insects, and birds.

The surrounding area of Quoich Pool is a freshwater marsh, characterized by wet, boggy ground and an abundance of wetland plants. This marshland provides a vital habitat for a range of bird species, such as teal, wigeon, and snipe, which are attracted to the rich insect life found there. It also serves as a breeding ground for amphibians, including frogs and newts.

Quoich Pool is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its ecological importance. It is a haven for wildlife and is particularly popular with birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil surroundings and observe the diverse range of flora and fauna that call this beautiful pool and marshland their home.
