Iron Carr is a densely wooded area located in the county of Norfolk, England. Situated near the village of Wood, the forest covers approximately 200 acres of land. It is known for its rich biodiversity and stunning natural beauty, attracting visitors from near and far.

The name "Iron Carr" is believed to have originated from the iron-rich soil found in the area and the presence of carr, which refers to a type of wetland habitat characterized by flooded or waterlogged conditions. The forest is predominantly composed of deciduous trees, including oak, birch, and beech, which create a dense canopy, providing shade and shelter for a variety of wildlife.

Iron Carr is home to a diverse range of plant and animal species, making it an important conservation area. Common sightings include deer, foxes, badgers, and various bird species such as woodpeckers and owls. The forest floor is adorned with a vibrant array of wildflowers and ferns, adding to its picturesque appeal.

The forest offers numerous walking trails and paths, allowing visitors to explore its natural wonders at their own pace. There are also designated picnic areas for those who wish to enjoy a leisurely lunch amidst the tranquil surroundings. In recent years, the local authorities have implemented measures to protect and preserve Iron Carr, ensuring its continued ecological significance and providing a sanctuary for both flora and fauna.

Lynford Water beach The sign says the water is not up to designated standards for swimming and no-one has got round to removing the quicksand sign. There would have been the potential for quicksand when gravel was cleaned and the sand and silt laden water poured back into the pit creating sand supersaturated with water. By now it will have all settled.
