Tanner's Hatch Youth Hostel On the northern edge of Bagden Wood.

Formerly a very dark location, recent removal of ash, and (probably) some oak, beech and yew, has seen this location being opened up, which has resulted in higher light levels.

Selective felling can look brutal but, year by year, the trees grow and canopies spread. The former density can be gauged from the surrounding woodland some 50+ yards from the youth hostel. Give this portion of the wood ten years, and it will probably start to look 'right'.

Currently (probably as a result of Covid restrictions), the youth hostel only appears to be taking advance group bookings and the outside accommodation has been removed.
