Moth-balled for the winter, this is a view of the 'covered' outdoor theatre auditorium with a collection of picnic benches stacked up on the area where the stage is to be seen during the live theatre season. This theatre - to the west of the hotel itself - was developed in the 1990s.

A4304 east of Walcote

The road in the foreground is one of those lay-bys left behind when improvement works take place; the result is a large refuge often used by lorry drivers and others taking a break. The A4304 was formerly a stretch of the A427 between Market Harborough and the M1 junction at Lutterworth. For some reason its natural continuation westwards to the A5 was given a slightly different number, the A4303. All this was done to persuade traffic to use the then newly-built A14 in preference; this seems to be a common practice although the result is often odd anomalies and discontinuities. As both the A4303 and A4304 run entirely in the sector between the A5 and the A6 they should really have been numbered in the '5' series. The yellow sign on the left is a warning to HGV drivers that their vehicles may be targeted by thieves.
