A very attractive tidal island seen from the South Channel of Loch Moidart. Taken before returning along the shore of Shona Beag (same island, different estate) to avoid the fast tidal stream between here and Riska on the ebb.

This pond was once used to power the sawmill (now a holiday cottage) below. The sawmill is on the loch shore, no doubt to facilitate timber transportation.

Eilean Shona is a small private island with no roads. It is situated between Knoydart and Ardnamurchan which also have very few roads so the best way of getting around is by boat. Eilean Shona house can be glimpsed through the trees.
