Little London Coppice is a charming woodland located in the county of Shropshire, England. Covering an area of approximately 50 acres, this tranquil forest is nestled in the heart of the countryside, offering visitors a serene and natural retreat.

The coppice is primarily composed of deciduous trees, with oak, ash, and beech being the dominant species. These trees provide a dense canopy that offers shade and shelter to the diverse flora and fauna that inhabit the woodland. Bluebells, wild garlic, and ferns carpet the forest floor, creating a picturesque scene during the spring and summer months.

The coppice is crisscrossed by a network of well-maintained footpaths, allowing visitors to explore the woodland at their leisure. These paths lead to several viewpoints, where one can enjoy breathtaking vistas of the surrounding countryside. Additionally, benches are strategically placed throughout the forest, providing opportunities for relaxation and contemplation.

Little London Coppice is not only a haven for nature enthusiasts but also serves as an important habitat for a variety of wildlife. Birdwatchers can spot species such as woodpeckers, nuthatches, and tawny owls, while lucky visitors may even catch a glimpse of elusive mammals like badgers and foxes.

Managed by the local conservation trust, the coppice is dedicated to preserving the natural beauty and biodiversity of the area. Regular maintenance ensures the health and vitality of the woodland, while efforts to control invasive species contribute to the overall ecological balance.

Overall, Little London Coppice offers a peaceful sanctuary where visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of nature and experience the tranquility of the Shropshire countryside.

Highley, "The Frying Scotsman" I thought I had taken a good photograph to have an enlargement made until I noticed the spelling on the headboard. No. 4472 "Flying Scotsman" was on the Severn Valley Railway, and you could buy a bacon butty "fried on the fireman's shovel" - hence the headboard!
