Abercregan is a small village located in the county of Glamorgan, Wales. It is situated in the Afan Valley, nestled between the rivers Afan and Pelenna. The village is part of the Neath Port Talbot local authority area and has a population of around 500 people.

Historically, Abercregan was a significant coal mining community during the Industrial Revolution. The village prospered in the 19th century due to the abundance of coal in the surrounding areas. However, the decline of the coal industry in the mid-20th century led to a significant decrease in population and economic activity.

Today, Abercregan retains its charm as a quiet and picturesque village. It is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, including rolling hills and dense forests, making it an attractive destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The nearby Afan Forest Park offers various recreational activities, such as hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife spotting.

The village itself consists of a small cluster of houses, a local pub, and a community center. The residents of Abercregan are known for their strong sense of community and pride in their heritage. The village hosts various community events throughout the year, including festivals and gatherings.

Overall, Abercregan is a tranquil village that offers a peaceful retreat and a glimpse into the rich history of coal mining in Glamorgan.
