Fellend Wood

Heckbarley Plantation The final cut for this plantation as trees are being felled here as part of a project to create more natural woodlands. Good news for nature lovers and hopefully the woodland will be more pleasing to the eye. The project fits in with the nearby 'Wild Ennerdale' scheme. Just hope I live long enough to enjoy the changes!

Red Moss Awful area of bog with the aptly named Stinking Gill flowing through it. I cannot recommend following the fence line as a route. I was however forced up here avoiding a herd of cows with calves by Whoap Beck. Several walkers with dogs have been trampled and badly injured by cows with calves recently and they should be avoided at all costs.
