Moss Plantation is a picturesque wood located in Roxburghshire, a historic county in the Scottish Borders region of Scotland. Covering an expansive area, the plantation is renowned for its lush and dense forest that offers a haven for a wide variety of flora and fauna.

The plantation is dominated by a diverse range of moss species, which thrive in the damp and shaded environment. These mosses create a soft, carpet-like ground cover, adding to the enchanting atmosphere of the woodland. The dense canopy formed by the towering trees, including oak, birch, and beech, provides ample shade and protection for smaller plants and animals.

Visitors to Moss Plantation are treated to a tranquil and serene experience, as the dense forest acts as a natural sound barrier, muffling any external noise. Walking through the plantation, one can enjoy the symphony of birdsong, rustling leaves, and the occasional scurrying of small mammals.

Apart from its natural beauty, Moss Plantation is also known for its historical significance. The woodland has been managed sustainably for centuries, and remnants of ancient settlements, including stone circles and burial mounds, can still be found scattered throughout the area.

Moss Plantation offers an ideal location for nature enthusiasts, hikers, and photographers seeking a tranquil and immersive experience in the heart of Scotland's beautiful countryside. Whether exploring the diverse flora and fauna, admiring the ancient ruins, or simply enjoying a peaceful walk, Moss Plantation is sure to captivate visitors with its natural charm and historical allure.

Ride, Wauchope Forest A grass strip which is a hangover from the previous generation of trees, has been retained. Obviously the northern block was felled a few years earlier than the southern block.
The ride heads towards the site of Wellcleuch Plantation, one of the small woods that predate the planting of Wauchope Forest.

Ride, Green Law There is a very wet path up this ride which connects a couple of roads. A motorbike had chewed the surface moss up a bit, probably the same pest which made a bit of a mess of the Wheel Causeway.
