Stechford is blighted by the A4040, which turns the main shopping area into a dirty, noisy deathtrap. But it's a double-edged sword: if it wasn't for the road, there wouldn't be all those shops and businesses. Here's the entrance to the retail park, which is on the site of the old Parkinson Cowan works.

River Cole, Birmingham

A family of Mallard make the most of the debris littering the river. In this square the River Cole is the border between the Small Heath and Yardley districts of Birmingham. Following the 7/7/2005 London Bombings a suspect from a house in this square was arrested, and the house searched.

This site on Hodge Hill houses a variety of schools covering a range of ages and abilities. This particular establishment is, as it is clearly labelled is Hodge Hill Girls School.

Bromford Bridge

This bridge carries Bromford Lane (!) over the River Tame SP1189 : River Tame at Bromford Bridge. Notice the bricked up doorway in the parapet. This would have housed one of the characteristic red doorways installed during WWII to provide quick emergency access to the water supply for the fire brigade.
