Castle Wood is a picturesque forest located in Monmouthshire, Wales. Covering an area of approximately 500 acres, it is nestled in the beautiful Wye Valley, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The wood is renowned for its enchanting atmosphere and rich biodiversity.

The forest is predominantly composed of native broadleaf trees, including oak, beech, and ash, which form a dense and vibrant canopy overhead. These ancient trees provide a haven for a wide variety of wildlife, making Castle Wood a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and birdwatchers.

Tranquil walking trails wind their way through the wood, allowing visitors to explore its scenic surroundings at their own pace. These paths provide opportunities to spot native wildlife species such as red squirrels, badgers, and a diverse array of birdlife. The forest floor is carpeted with wildflowers in the spring and summer, adding bursts of color to the already picturesque landscape.

Castle Wood also boasts historical significance, as the remains of a medieval castle can be found within its boundaries. These ruins add an air of mystery and intrigue to the forest, attracting history buffs and those with a fascination for the past.

Overall, Castle Wood offers a peaceful and immersive experience in nature, where visitors can indulge in the beauty of the forest, observe wildlife, and explore the remnants of a bygone era.

Town Hall, B4347 Grosmont Grade II Listed Town Hall built 1831-2 with an upstairs assembly room, and a ground-floor market hall. The Duke of Beaufort had offered to rebuild the market hall in 1828 on the site of the previous, presumably medieval, much large timber framed building. He then donated the new building to the parish in 1902. The external staircase was added sometime after 1832. Bradney's 'History of Monmouthshire' includes a photograph of the Town Hall in 1904 showing the arcaded market hall open to the street on all sides. However, sometime during the earlier 20th century the south end was enclosed.
