Old Station Footbridge, Bala Station Bala station is the eastern terminus of the Bala Lake Railway, a narrow gauge railway focusing on the heritage of steam locomotives used in the Welsh slate industries. The railway uses the trackbed of the former GWR line from Ruabon to Barmouth. The station was named Bala Lake Halt on the GWR line, the main Bala station being on the branch that ran north to Blaenau Ffestiniog.
