This is where the Deputy Fuhrer of Germany Rudolf Hess was kept overnight when he parachuted into Scotland landing at Eaglesham in 1941. At that time the Lodge was a Scout hut. Later the next day  he  was transported to a military barracks at Maryhill on the northern side of Glasgow.
