Birch Grove entrance Birch Grove was the home of Harold and Dorothy Macmillan. He was British Prime Minister from 1957 to 1963. It was here that in 1963, President Kennedy paid a flying private visit during a European tour. Harold Macmillan died at this home in 1986 at the grand age of 92.

Mill Brook footbridge and ford This brook never seems to dry out. Cross the brook going northwards and you proceed through a path with fences on either side until you reach the wide open forest again at the top of the slope.
