Sad gravestone, Awre Church Detail from the gravestone of Sarah Johnson who died on December 19 1816 aged 41. The gravestone is also to the memory of her seven children who died in infancy, presumably the seven heads represent the children.

A poem inscribed on the stone reads:

"My female friend O stay and think of me
For know from sudden death thou art free
In childbirth I was quickly called away
To dwell in silence with my native clay"
