Braehead is a small rural village located in the county of Wigtownshire, in southwestern Scotland. Situated approximately 8 miles northeast of Stranraer, Braehead is nestled in a picturesque countryside setting, surrounded by rolling hills and lush greenery.

On Wigtownshire milestones a W can be for Wigtown or Whithorn.  But as this is the route between the two, Whithorn gets the small H extra.   Once upon a time there was a railway from Newton Stewart via Wigtown to Whithorn.
