Firle is a picturesque village located in the county of West Sussex, England. Nestled within the South Downs National Park, it is surrounded by rolling hills and stunning countryside. The village is situated approximately six miles east of Lewes, the county town of East Sussex.

Firle is centered around the historic Firle Place, a beautiful country house that has been the seat of the Gage family for over 500 years. The house itself is a fine example of Georgian architecture and is surrounded by extensive landscaped gardens, which are open to the public during the summer months. The estate also includes a deer park and a number of traditional farm buildings.

The village itself is small, with a population of around 400 residents. It has retained its traditional charm, with a collection of quaint cottages and a beautiful 13th-century church dedicated to St Peter. The village green is a focal point for community events and is a popular spot for picnics during the warmer months.

Firle offers a range of amenities for both locals and visitors. The Ram Inn, a historic pub dating back to the 16th century, provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere for those seeking refreshment. Additionally, there are a few small shops and a tearoom, offering locally sourced products and delicious homemade treats.

The surrounding countryside provides ample opportunities for outdoor activities, such as walking, cycling, and horse riding. The South Downs Way, a long-distance footpath, passes through the village, attracting hikers from near and far. Overall, Firle is a delightful destination for those seeking a peaceful and idyllic escape in the heart of the Sussex countryside.
