Tresta is a small settlement located on the west coast of the island of Shetland, Scotland. Situated in the parish of Sandsting, it is surrounded by picturesque landscapes and offers breathtaking views of the North Atlantic Ocean.

The village of Tresta is known for its tranquility and natural beauty. It is home to a small community of residents who enjoy a peaceful lifestyle amidst the rugged Shetland scenery. The area is predominantly rural, with rolling hills, moorland, and peat bogs, making it a haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Tresta is renowned for its stunning beach, which stretches along the coastline. The sandy shores are ideal for leisurely walks or relaxing picnics, while the crystal-clear waters provide opportunities for swimming and water sports during the warmer months.

The settlement is also a gateway to some of Shetland's most remarkable natural attractions. Just a short distance away, visitors can explore the dramatic cliffs of Eshaness, the historic Muckle Roe Island, and the impressive Loch of Strom, which is a haven for birdwatchers.

Stone and earthen structure by the Dale Burn Reasonably substantial stone and earthen structure on a narrow strip of good ground along the Dale Burn running down into Sandsound. There was some evidence of cultivation in tiered areas nearby.
The walls are certainly not ancient but this has still been here a long time - possibly rebuilt from something neolithic?

Viking Energy mast on South Mid Field A test mast for Viking Energy's proposed windfarm, Scalla Field lightly dusted with snow in the distance.
The top part of this mast bent over slightly during a hurricane a few years ago and had to be repaired. It seems this time to have survived the recent hurricane we had on Christmas day 2011.
