Flagpole on Bizzyberry
The isolated flagpole above Biggar only gets used for 1 week a year, to fly the Saltire during the local Gala Week. The flag being hoisted by the local Cornet as he rides to the top by on horseback during the Riding of The Marches.
London is big, but Biggar's Biggar.
Popped in here to watch the rugby. (Ireland won 15-9 , dour stuff). Biggar is a long way east and closer to Edinburgh than Glasgow, but still in Lanarkshire. There is a campaign going to get a more "upmarket" Peebles post code, but the pink road is a giveaway.
Relaying Drainage Pipes
There were innumerable lengths of old, yellow, plastic pipes lying around which had been recently unearthed. New trenches were being dug for the replacement piping.
Lindsaylands
One of the many large mansions which you will find in the area around Biggar. Perhaps Mr Lindsay was one of the many wealthy merchants or businessmen from Glasgow or Edinburgh who bought an estate here. Perhaps he was a local farmer. The farm to the west and the hill behind bear the same name.
Farmland Towards Wolfclyde
In the Biggar Gap ! "a deep flattish-floored hollow 11 kms long linking the Clyde valley with that of the Tweed.", according to J.B. Sissons, the eminent geomorphologist. Reputedly the result of a glacial breach.
