Footbridge, Nant Merddog, Silent Valley LNR

Simple wooden bridge constructed this month by Gwent Wildlife Trust in place of the decrepit previous similar bridge in their reserve. The water level in the stream is exceptionally low.

Pond cleared of grass, Silent Valley LNR

The pond near the former Ty'n-y-gelli Farm has been largely cleared of grass by a Gwent Wildlife Trust working party; a task made easier by the drought. The pond was last cleared in May 2017 SO1807 : Pond clearance, Silent Valley Local Nature Reserve, viewed from other end of pond.

Site of former Ty'n-y-gelli farmhouse

The house was on the grassy mound, to the left of centre, in Silent Valley LNR; ruins on mound - SO1807 : Ruins of Ty'n-y-gelli, Silent Valley. The security fence separates the reserve from the closed waste tip, camera position.
