Sgeir Mhaol is a small island located off the coast of Argyllshire in western Scotland. It is situated in the Inner Hebrides, specifically in the Sound of Mull, between the mainland and the Isle of Mull. The island is approximately 300 meters long and 100 meters wide, with a rocky and rugged terrain.

Sgeir Mhaol is uninhabited and mainly consists of high cliffs that provide nesting sites for various seabird species, including guillemots, razorbills, and puffins. The island's remote location and lack of human disturbance make it an ideal breeding ground for these birds. As such, it is a popular spot among birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts.

The island's name, Sgeir Mhaol, translates to "bare rock" in Gaelic, which accurately describes its bare and exposed landscape. The rocky shores also make it challenging for boats to land on the island, adding to its isolation and natural beauty.

Despite its small size, Sgeir Mhaol offers breathtaking views of the surrounding sea and nearby islands, making it a popular destination for photographers and artists. Visitors can access the island by boat from nearby towns such as Tobermory or Craignure.

Due to its protected status as a Special Protection Area (SPA) and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), visitors are advised to respect the island's fragile ecosystem and not disturb the wildlife or vegetation.
