Hawks Brow is a prominent headland located on the Sussex coast in southern England. It is situated between the towns of Eastbourne and Seaford, overlooking the English Channel. This coastal feature is known for its stunning cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area.

The headland is characterized by its rugged and dramatic landscape, with steep cliffs rising up from the sea. The point is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, attracting visitors with its natural beauty and abundant wildlife. Birdwatchers flock to Hawks Brow to observe a variety of species such as gulls, cormorants, and occasionally even rare sightings of peregrine falcons.

The headland also offers numerous walking trails, allowing visitors to explore the area and take in the stunning coastal scenery. On a clear day, it is possible to see as far as the famous Seven Sisters cliffs to the west and Beachy Head to the east.

Hawks Brow is not only a picturesque coastal feature but also holds historical significance. It has been a site of interest for geologists studying the effects of erosion and the formation of coastal features. Additionally, the headland has witnessed numerous shipwrecks throughout history, adding to its allure and intrigue.

In conclusion, Hawks Brow is a captivating headland on the Sussex coast, renowned for its striking cliffs, abundant wildlife, and panoramic views. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area while also providing insights into the geological history of the region.

The flat roofs of Cliff Close houses can be seen to the left of the pillar. Old maps show that between 1899, before Cliff Road was developed, and 1950 there was a property on the cliff some way behind the camera, named on a 1927 map as Cliff Cottage. By 1963 it had gone; there was just a drive. There seems no reason to doubt that this was the entrance to the property. The location is now an informal piece of ground leading to a viewpoint and the lower slopes of Seaford Head.
