Clingra is a prominent headland located in the Shetland Islands, an archipelago in Scotland, United Kingdom. Situated on the eastern coast of the mainland, this coastal feature is known for its striking natural beauty and rugged landscape.

The headland of Clingra juts out into the North Sea, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding waters and nearby islands. With its steep cliffs and jagged rocks, this coastal formation stands as a formidable barrier against the relentless waves of the ocean. The cliffs rise to an impressive height, providing an ideal vantage point for observing the diverse marine life and seabirds that inhabit the area.

Clingra is also notable for its unique geology. The headland is composed primarily of sandstone and shale, showcasing layers of sedimentary rock that have been shaped and eroded by the constant forces of wind and water over millions of years. These geological features contribute to the dramatic and picturesque scenery that attracts both locals and tourists alike.

In addition to its natural beauty, Clingra holds historical significance. The headland is home to the ruins of an ancient fort, which is believed to have been constructed during the Iron Age. This archaeological site offers a glimpse into the region's rich past and provides a fascinating insight into the lives of its early inhabitants.

Clingra is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and photography. Its untamed and rugged environment, combined with its historical and geological significance, make it a must-visit coastal feature in the Shetland Islands.

Belmont, Unst This was taken from the Gutcher-Belmont ferry as we come into port at Belmont, Unst, Shetland. We are on the Wick of Belmont and this is Belmont House, a category A-listed Georgian country house which was built in 1775 by Shetland landowner Thomas Mouat of Garth. Restored to its former glory between 1996 and 2010, it is now a private residence though it has been let out occasionally as a venue for cultural events and B&B accommodation.
