Black Mixen Pool is a natural feature located in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Situated along the coastline, it is a unique aquatic formation that combines elements of a sea, estuary, and creek. This picturesque pool is renowned for its stunning beauty and diverse ecosystem.

The pool is characterized by its dark and rocky terrain, contrasting with the crystal-clear waters that reflect the surrounding landscape. Its unusual name, "Black Mixen," comes from the blend of black rocks and sediment found in the pool, which give it a distinct appearance.

As a sea, estuary, and creek all in one, Black Mixen Pool offers a variety of aquatic habitats. At high tide, the pool connects with the sea, allowing marine life to enter and exit freely. This creates a rich and dynamic ecosystem, attracting a wide range of marine species such as fish, crabs, and mollusks.

During low tide, the pool becomes an estuary, with the water level decreasing and revealing a sandy bottom. This transitional zone between freshwater and saltwater supports a diverse array of plants and animals, including wading birds and small crustaceans.

Additionally, Black Mixen Pool features a small creek that flows into the pool, adding to its unique charm. The creek brings freshwater from the surrounding land, further enriching the ecosystem and providing a habitat for freshwater species such as frogs and insects.

As a natural wonder, Black Mixen Pool attracts both nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. Visitors can enjoy observing the intricate interplay of sea, estuary, and creek, as well as the remarkable biodiversity that thrives in this captivating aquatic environment.
