Bound Skerry is a small uninhabited island located in the Shetland archipelago, situated off the northeast coast of Scotland. The island is part of the Bound Skerry Reserve, which is managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).

Covering an area of approximately 12 hectares, Bound Skerry is characterized by its rugged and rocky landscape, with sheer cliffs rising from the sea. The island is surrounded by rich marine waters, making it an important breeding site for a variety of seabirds. These include Atlantic puffins, black-legged kittiwakes, guillemots, and razorbills, among others. The abundance of seabirds on the island creates a cacophony of sounds and a vibrant spectacle during the breeding season.

Access to Bound Skerry is restricted to protect the fragile ecosystem and wildlife. However, visitors can experience the island's wildlife by taking boat tours that pass by the island, allowing for excellent birdwatching opportunities. The surrounding waters are also home to seals, porpoises, and occasional sightings of whales.

Bound Skerry is not only a haven for wildlife but also a crucial part of the Shetland landscape and heritage. The island's dramatic cliffs and rugged terrain provide nesting sites for thousands of seabirds, contributing to the region's biodiversity. Furthermore, Bound Skerry's isolation and untouched nature offer a glimpse into the untamed beauty of the Shetland Islands, making it a must-visit location for nature enthusiasts and bird lovers alike.
