Scarfi Stack is a small uninhabited island located in the Shetland archipelago, off the northern coast of mainland Scotland. This rocky outcrop rises majestically from the North Sea, standing at an impressive height of 39 meters (128 feet). It is situated around 6 kilometers (3.7 miles) west of the larger island of Shetland.

The island's name, Scarfi Stack, is derived from Old Norse, with "scarfi" meaning cormorant and "stack" referring to a tall, narrow tower-like formation. This name perfectly encapsulates the island's prominent feature – a striking sea stack that dominates the landscape and is home to a thriving population of seabirds, including cormorants and puffins.

Scarfi Stack is renowned for its rich biodiversity and serves as an important breeding ground for various species of seabirds. The sea stack provides a safe haven for nesting, as it is inaccessible to most predators. Visitors to the area can witness the spectacular sight of thousands of birds inhabiting the stack during the breeding season, creating a cacophony of sounds and a mesmerizing display of aerial acrobatics.

Access to Scarfi Stack is limited due to its remote location and rugged terrain, making it a popular destination for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts seeking a unique and secluded experience. Boat tours and guided excursions are available from nearby Shetland, offering visitors the opportunity to observe the island's wildlife up close.

With its dramatic cliffs, diverse birdlife, and untouched natural beauty, Scarfi Stack is an enchanting destination that showcases the raw splendor of the Shetland Islands and the abundant wildlife that calls this remote corner of Scotland home.

Malcolm's Head At 107m, Malcolm's Head is the fifth highest hill on Fair Isle, after Ward Hill (217m), Burrashield Hill (150m), Sheep Rock (132m) and Vaasetter Hill (110m). Although one can argue about "What is a hill?", I do not think any other spot would really qualify, although there are many sea stacks.
