Cley Stacks is a group of towering rock formations located off the coast of Shetland, an archipelago in Scotland. Situated in the Atlantic Ocean, these impressive sea stacks are a prominent feature of the rugged coastline. The stacks are made up of layers of sedimentary rock that have been eroded over time by the relentless pounding of the waves.

Cley Stacks consists of three individual stacks, each standing tall and isolated from the mainland. The largest stack reaches a height of approximately 120 feet (37 meters), making it an awe-inspiring sight for visitors. These stacks are composed of sandstone, which displays unique patterns and colors, adding to their visual appeal.

Access to Cley Stacks is limited due to their offshore location. However, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the formations from the shoreline or take boat trips to get a closer look. The stacks are also a popular spot for birdwatching, as they provide nesting sites for various seabird species, including puffins, guillemots, and razorbills.

Cley Stacks are part of the wider Shetland Islands' diverse and stunning natural landscape. The area is known for its dramatic cliffs, picturesque beaches, and rich wildlife. It attracts outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, and photographers who are drawn to its breathtaking beauty and tranquility.

Overall, Cley Stacks stand as majestic and enduring symbols of the Shetland Islands' geological history. They offer a glimpse into the power of nature and serve as a reminder of the ever-changing landscapes that shape our world.

Dale of Walls: telephone box and cottage This very isolated telephone box cannot surely see much use - well, attempted use, I should say: I lifted the handset and could get no tone whatsoever!
