Eilean nan Tighean, also known as the Island of Houses, is a small uninhabited island located off the west coast of Scotland in Inverness-shire. Situated in the picturesque Loch Maree, the island covers an area of approximately 1.5 acres.

The island's name, Eilean nan Tighean, translates to "Island of Houses" in Scottish Gaelic, which is derived from the ruins of several stone buildings that are scattered across the island. These ruins are believed to have been the remains of cottages or houses that were once inhabited by local fishermen or crofters.

The island is covered in lush vegetation, including trees, shrubs, and wildflowers, providing a habitat for various species of birds and other wildlife. It is also surrounded by the pristine waters of Loch Maree, which is renowned for its natural beauty and is a popular spot for fishing and boating enthusiasts.

Access to Eilean nan Tighean is possible by boat, and visitors can explore the island at their own leisure. It offers stunning views of the surrounding Loch Maree and the nearby mountain peaks, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and photographers.

Although there are no facilities or services on the island, it serves as a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility and serenity of the island, immersing themselves in the natural beauty and rich history of Eilean nan Tighean.
