Men-a-vaur is a small island located off the coast of Cornwall, England. Situated in the Celtic Sea, this uninhabited island is part of the Isles of Scilly archipelago. Men-a-vaur, also known as Menawethan, measures approximately 200 meters in length and 100 meters in width, with an area of around 3 hectares.

The island is a haven for various species of seabirds, including the Atlantic puffin, European storm petrel, and the Manx shearwater. Its rocky coastline and steep cliffs provide ideal nesting sites for these birds during the breeding season. In addition to its avian inhabitants, Men-a-vaur is renowned for its diverse marine life, attracting divers and snorkelers from around the world.

Access to Men-a-vaur is limited due to its protected status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Visitors require special permission from the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust to land on the island. However, the surrounding waters offer excellent opportunities for boat trips and wildlife tours, allowing visitors to observe the island's natural beauty and wildlife from a distance.

Despite its lack of permanent human residents, Men-a-vaur has a rich history. Archaeological evidence suggests the presence of prehistoric settlements on the island, and it is believed to have been used for grazing livestock in the past. Today, Men-a-vaur stands as a remote and untouched sanctuary, offering a glimpse into Cornwall's natural heritage.
