Ben Avon is a prominent mountain located in the Cairngorms National Park, within the county of Banffshire in Scotland. Standing at an impressive height of 1,171 meters (3,842 feet), it is the eighth highest peak in the Cairngorms range. The mountain is part of the Grampian Mountains, which stretch across the Scottish Highlands.

Ben Avon is known for its distinctive shape, with a long summit plateau that spans approximately five kilometers. Its remote and rugged nature attracts outdoor enthusiasts, including hikers, mountaineers, and nature lovers. The challenging terrain of the mountain offers a variety of routes, making it a popular destination for experienced climbers.

The summit of Ben Avon provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the Cairngorms, the Moray Firth, and the vast Aberdeenshire countryside. The mountain is also home to several corries, steep-sided hollows that were formed by glacial erosion during the last Ice Age. These corries, such as Garbh Choire and Leabaidh an Daimh Bhuidhe, add to the dramatic beauty of Ben Avon.

The area surrounding Ben Avon is rich in wildlife, with species such as red deer, mountain hares, and golden eagles frequently spotted. The mountain is also an important habitat for various alpine plants and heather moorland.

Access to Ben Avon is typically gained from the nearby Glen Avon or Glen Quoich, with several trails leading to the summit. However, due to its remote location, careful planning and navigation skills are necessary when venturing onto the mountain.
