Tiree - MacCallum's Cairn MacCallum's Cairn near Kilkenneth was erected by the crofters of Tiree in honour of the Reverend Donald MacCallum. He was a champion of the rights of crofters and cottars during The Highland Clearances, arriving in Tiree as minister at  Heylipol in 1887. However he was removed after just 18 months after pressure from the local landlord. An inscription on the memorial reads: "Tùr (trans: Tower) McCallum, 1st July 1889. Bas no Buaidh : Death or Victory."
