One Little Island The road island and yellow and black marker have made all of the difference to indicate that the road from Preston into Hedon at Souttergate is a one-way street. Despite the no entry signs and 'NO ENTRY' writing on the road, it was a regular occurrence for some road users to go the wrong way down this road into Hedon centre instead of using Station Road to do so. The Hedon one-way system was introduced in the 1970s but it's only within the last six months that the small road island and marker have been installed there!!
