When the monks of Lindisfarne carried the remains of the Northumbrian Saint Cuthbert away from the danger of the Viking raids their procession crossed the Tees over the ford at Neasham on their way to Ripon. He would finally be interred in Durham Cathedral.

This is the second of the two Neasham fords on the Tees. Progress on this stretch isn't too difficult yet but seems likely to become problematic as we move into summer.
