Entering Eglwysilan Common
This path is on the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway and crosses rough grazing land on the hills around former coal mining villages.
Coal Bing from Carnedd Lwyd
This distinctive flat-topped bing has been grassed over. Note the stone dyke on the right - dry-stone walling.
Moorland Path above Senghenydd
This is the top of a steep footpath descending from the head of the valley ridge down to the former mining village. Paths are now maintained by Caerphilly.
The Square, Senghenydd
A fork in the road is occupied by the war memorial / clock tower. Note the bilingual sign of the Post Office and the former miners' cottages lining the road.
Former Chapel, Senghenydd
The village straggles along the valley road and has several chapels. Like this one, many are now closed - or turned into other use eg flats.

This rough track forms a section of a footpath leading across the hill from Abertridwr to Llanbradach. This stretch is easy to find, but elsewhere the path is poorly defined.
