The original tower was replaced by the present upturned cone after it was deemed unsafe and subsequently removed. I think it would look better without the cone.

This was originally Sherwood Church, but was renamed to Sherwood Greenlaw when the nearby Greenlaw church <a href="https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/426603">NS4964 : Greenlaw House</a> closed and the congregations merged.
