Cnoc Ruadh is a prominent hill located in the county of Sutherland, in the northern part of Scotland. It is part of the Northwest Highlands and stands at an elevation of approximately 709 meters (2,326 feet) above sea level. The hill is situated near the village of Lairg, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Cnoc Ruadh is known for its distinct shape, featuring a rounded summit that is easily recognizable from afar. Its slopes are covered with heather and grass, giving it a vibrant reddish-brown appearance, which is where its name, Cnoc Ruadh (meaning "red hill" in Scottish Gaelic), originates.

Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts are drawn to Cnoc Ruadh due to its accessibility and the breathtaking vistas it offers from the top. The ascent can be challenging at times, with steep sections and uneven terrain, but it is considered a moderate hike suitable for people with a reasonable level of fitness.

At the summit, visitors are rewarded with sweeping views of the surrounding Scottish Highlands, including the nearby Loch Shin and the vast expanse of the Flow Country, a unique and internationally significant peatland landscape. On clear days, it is even possible to spot the distinctive mountains of Ben Klibreck and Ben Hope in the distance.

Cnoc Ruadh is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and is often included in hiking itineraries for those exploring the beautiful Scottish Highlands.
