Aldridge station, with Society Special train, 1951 View eastward, towards Castle Bromwich and Birmingham New Street. This was a Stephenson Locomotive Society Special, formed of the auto-train, suitably strengthened, normally employed on the ex-Midland (Birmingham) - Castle Bromwich - Sutton Coldfield - Walsall line (closed 18/1/65); a branch had run from here - behind camera - to Brownhills (Watling Street) until 31/3/30. The locomotive is LMS-type Ivatt 2MT 2-6-2T No. 41226 (built 11/48, withdrawn 9/64).
