Ramna Stacks is a group of sea stacks located in the Shetland Islands, an archipelago in Scotland. Situated off the west coast of the mainland, they are found near the village of Hillswick, in the Northmavine peninsula.

Comprising three main stacks, Ramna Stacks are a stunning geological formation rising dramatically from the North Atlantic Ocean. The tallest of the stacks stands at approximately 60 meters (197 feet) high, showcasing the sheer power of erosion and natural forces over thousands of years. These stacks are composed primarily of sandstone, shaped by relentless waves and weathering.

The area surrounding Ramna Stacks is rich in wildlife, offering a haven for various seabird species. Visitors can often spot colonies of puffins, guillemots, razorbills, and kittiwakes nesting on the cliffs and ledges of the stacks. Additionally, the surrounding waters are home to seals, porpoises, and occasionally even whales, providing a unique opportunity for marine life enthusiasts.

Access to Ramna Stacks can be challenging due to the rugged terrain and lack of proper footpaths. However, experienced hikers and adventurers can reach the site by following the coastal paths from Hillswick. The journey offers breathtaking views of the coastline and the North Atlantic, adding to the allure of this natural wonder.

Ramna Stacks is a popular attraction for nature lovers, photographers, and those seeking a remote and awe-inspiring experience. Its raw beauty, combined with the rich biodiversity of the area, makes it a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the Shetland Islands.
