A rare tree in Beech Court Gardens, Challock To the west of the house is the Kalopanax septemlobus, the rarest tree in the garden. It is of the ivy family with leaves like eagle claws. In 2003 it flowered for the first time. It is native to Japan, China and Korea and arrived in Britain in 1865.
